Tucked along the peaceful coastal stretch of Plouézec, this French restaurant offers a relaxed spot to enjoy a wide range of local and traditional flavors. The menu tends to draw people looking for fresh seafood like mussels and oysters, alongside comforting galettes and tender meat dishes, all paired thoughtfully with a varied wine list or carefully mixed cocktails. Whether you arrive for a casual lunch or a quieter dinner, the atmosphere balances a cosy, somewhat romantic feel with a friendly, unhurried pace that suits solo diners, couples, or small groups.
The space invites you to linger—outdoor seating is available for warmer days, while the interior remains welcoming and accommodating, with full wheelchair access. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a coffee and dessert or settle in for a late bite, supported by attentive table service and a bar area with a good selection of beers and spirits. Families with children, including those needing high chairs or a kids’ menu, will find it easy to feel at home here, and dog owners appreciate the pet-friendly approach, too.
Located near quiet streets with free parking options, the restaurant fits neatly into the local rhythm, popular with both visitors exploring the area and locals who value a dependable spot open many days of the year. The vibe is calm and genuine rather than bustling or trendy, making it a comfortable choice for anyone seeking a welcoming place that reflects a true taste of the region’s flavors and hospitality.

5 Super delicious and super friendly. Absolutely beautiful and a place to be. Enjoy the french type of life.
5 Excellent food, I had the Spanish moules which were delicious, my partner had a goats cheese and Emmenthal pesto galette which was amazing. Service was good and friendly, the location is fantastic and the overall vibe was great.
5 Absolutely wonderful. Perfect stop during a fab bike ride. Great food, great staff. 100% recommend!
5 While most restaurants are closed in this time of year Chez Tonton is always open. I enjoyed perfect oysters and a nice brochette de boeuf. Glas of Viognier and with the meat a nice Haut-Medoc. Good quality in a nice atmosphere even if it's a quiet evening.
4 very much enjoyed our lunch here, the moules mariniere were very good, and the galettes were delicious. Deserts were impressive (including a delightful Iles Flotante) and altogether with drinks as well it cost us around 20 Euros per person. Service was generally good, apart from when we wanted to pay the bill, when we waited ten minutes.
5 Great seafood, warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff - a perfect place to eat and relax whether basking in the sun or cozily tucked away sheltering from the Breton weather! One of my favourite places in the peninsula and highly recommended.
5 Great food. They will even prepare something for vegetarians if you give them some notice. The restaurant is attached to the side of the hill. (see my photo of toilets). The coastal hikes are exceptional in the area and Chez Tonton is a nice way to finish a day of visiting this region of Brittany. Highly recommended!
5 Delicious food, good service and nice view of the beach. However, the only downside is the waiting time for the dishes. The waitress is lovely. I totally recommend it !
